Catholic Prayers

  • Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

  • The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

  • Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace! The Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

  • The Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

  • Fatima Prayer

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven especially those in most need of thy mercy.

  • The Lord’s Prayer (The Our Father)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

  • Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! Hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve! To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears! Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the Blessed Fruit of your womb, Jesus! O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

  • Grace Before Meals

Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty through Christ our Lord. Amen.

  • Grace After Meals

We give Thee thanks for all Thy benefits, Almighty God, who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

  • Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee; and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

  • Prayer to the Guardian Angel

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here; ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

  • Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, protect me. Blood of Christ, fill me. Water from Christ’s side, purify me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O good Jesus, hear me. Within your wounds hide me; Never permit me to leave thee. From the evil one defend me. In my last hour, call me. and bid me to come to thee, And with your saints and angles praise thee, Throughout eternity. Amen.

  • The Divine Praises

Blessed be God. Blessed be his Holy Name. Blessed by Jesus Christ, true God and true man. Blessed by the name of Jesus. Blessed be his most Sacred Heart. Blessed be his most Precious Blood. Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar. Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete. Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy. Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception. Blessed be her glorious Assumption. Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother. Blessed by St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse. Blessed be God in his angels and in his saints.

  • The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. Despise not my prayers and petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

  • Regina Coeli

(Said during Pascaltime instead of the Angelus)

Rejoice, O Queen of Heaven, alleluia,
The Son whom you were worthy to bear, alleluia,
Has arisen as he promised, alleluia.
Pray for us to the Father, alleluia.

Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia,
For the Lord has really risen, alleluia.

    O God,
By the resurrection of your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ,
You gave joy to the world.
Grant that through his mother, the Virgin Mary,
We may obtain the joys of everlasting life.
We ask this through the same Christ our Lord.

    Amen.

  • For Lent

    God of time and seasons,
You have brought us again to Lent –
For the study of your Word,
For the remembrance of the temptation of your Son,
and for the contemplation of his cross.
    The birds know their season;
forbid that we be blind to our times.
    Grant us a Lenten blessing,
And may no one miss this time of growth.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
    Amen.
